Model year 1999 – again the specifications were improved: the hitherto black coloured side skirts now painted in body colours in all models. New design of the radiator grill (slightly convoluted, variable sized combs), door sill trim plates with Fiat-logo, additional interior lighting in the C-pillar.
A twin spoke wheel design appeared for the 20VT model, with both the 16V and 20V having new 15” wheels, looking similar to the present day 20VT's. The 20VT Turbo got a 6 speed gearbox, starter button (silver) and silver highlighted instruments (up to 280 km/h, 175 mph).

Additional equipment for the "Plus" version appeared (surcharge 3,000.- DM). For that you got front spoiler flaps, side skirts, red Brembo callipers, perforated brake discs, Sparco strut brace and a red painted cylinder head cap all recognisable from the LE. Recaro leather trim with red seams and a luggage net also were included.
A new colour, pearl white, was available exclusively for the "Plus"-version (with an unbelievable 4,300.- DM surcharge).
To complete the bewildering surcharge the spoiler equipment of the "Plus" was available for the 20VT, as well as a sport package (red strut brace, cylinder head cap, brake calipers, perforated brake discs).
New leather colours: Bordeaux red and black with red seams.
